OBITUARY

Linder Durell Devore August 1, 1919 – December 5, 2011

Linder was born on a farm near Altamont, Il. He attended Dexter Country School in Altamont, Il graduating from Grade School and High School in Altamont. He also attended Eastern Illinois University.

He was a Veteran during WW II serving as an Army Intelligent Agent in Europe before he was Honorably Discharged.

He taught school for four years before going into the banking business for 44 years retiring in 1986 as President of the St. Charles National Bank. He also had previously been Chairman of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce.

He had been an Honorary & Certified High School Basketball official in the State of Illinois. He was past Masonic Lodge Master in Altamont, Il. Locally he was a member of Baker Memorial Methodist Church and St. Charles Episcopal Church. He had sung in the church choir for 20 years where he was a member of the Special Quartet for 17 years in Altamont. He spent years visiting Nursing Homes and Hospitals.

Linder is Survived by Four Children, and two Step Children, Lynn (Frances) Devore, Mike (Karen) Devore, Martha (Dick) Campbell, and Becky (Gary) Smits, Betsy (Ralph) Oswald, and Ann (Dave) Sinnett. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also a brother, Rev. Dr. Gehl (Doris) Devore.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Gene and also his second wife, Jeanne whom he married in 1973, also a brother, Raymond Devore and Jeanne’s son, Bob (Carol) Grote.

There will be no funeral services or visitation. Contributions may be made to St. Charles, Episcopal Church 994 North Fifth Ave St. Charles, Il 60174. or Baker Methodist Church St. Charles.
