Elsa Ciocon Seiton, DDM, age 83 of Geneva, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at her residence. Elsa was born on January 1, 1934, in Bacolod, Philippines to her loving parents, Canuto and Concepcion (Lo) Ciocon. She was united in marriage to Dr. Buenaventura (Ben) Seiton on June 2, 1962, and they raised two children, Brian Seiton and Brenda Seiton. They were blessed with three grandchildren, Daniel and Nicole Seiton, and Jack Landau.

Dr. Seiton received her degree in dentistry from the University of the East, Manila, Philippines in 1957. Upon graduation, Dr. Seiton topped the Philippine Dental Boards. She served on the faculty of the University of the East and received a scholarship to pursue her fellowship training at the University of Illinois – Chicago Circle. She arrived in Chicago in 1961 with one suitcase of clothes and one suitcase of books. In 1963, she completed her fellowship in orthodontics under the mentorship of Allan G. Brodie, DDS, PhD. Dr. Seiton continued research at UIC with Dr. T.M. Graber and served as an Instructor at the College of Dentistry. Dr. Seiton was instrumental in founding the Women’s Auxiliary of the Philippine Medical Association in Chicago and served as its first president.

The family moved first to Elgin, Illinois, where Dr. Ben Seiton began his practice in Urology. In 1971, the family moved to Bartlett, Illinois and were active members at St. Peter Damian Church and local schools. Elsa was very active in her children’s education and activities, and served as PTA president at Bartlett Grade School. She loved the arts, attending concerts at Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park, and Ravinia Festival, and visiting the Art Institute of Chicago. Elsa enjoyed playing tennis and watching the Chicago Bulls and Bears. Elsa was a warm, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to spend as much time with them as possible, and especially loved to spoil them.

Elsa is survived by her husband of 54 years, two children Brian (Michelle) Seiton of Batavia and Brenda Seiton (Michael Landau) of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Daniel and Nicole Seiton, and Jack Landau; her siblings Sally (Narsing, deceased) Montiero; Carmen (Benjamin) Buck, Milagros Azer, Victoria (Roman, deceased) Vonthron, Canuto (Delia) Ciocon, Iluminada (Rene) Limjoco, Marites (Rene) Valderrama, Brenda (Ed) Manansala and Jennifer (Mario) Pico, sister-in-law Celia Ciocon and is a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gene Ciocon.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W State Street, Geneva, IL 60134.

Funeral services will begin on Monday, March 27 at Yurs Funeral Home, 9:00 a.m. with prayers at Yurs Funeral Home before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 W Main St. in Batavia, to celebrate Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
