OBITUARY

Ardath J. Paris passed away on July 25, 2012 at the age of 85 in her home in Batavia, IL.

Ardath was born on September 4, 1926 in Freeport, IL to Annabel (Cantrill) Hatlested and Leo Cantrill. Ardath had only one sister Carol (Cantrill) Swenson. Ardath married Alvin Paris on October 2, 1948 and were married for 47 years.

Ardath graduated Bishop Muldoon High School in Rockford, IL in 1945. She continued on in her education graduating from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Aurora, IL Class of 1948.

Ardath’s dedication in nursing gave her the opportunity to work as a OB nurse at community hospital in Geneva, IL and her biggest accomplishment in her career was becoming the director of nurses at Mary Margret Manor in Elgin, IL.

Ardath’s life passion and devotion came when she joined the VFW and ladies Auxiliary in 1948. She was especially interested and active with the national home where she achieved a life membership on May 20, 1969. Ardath received countless awards and recognitions over the years of her service. She held numerous positions within the ladies Auxiliary and district departments. Some of the greatest positions she held were district president for the 5th and 19th departments and was a past president for the ladies Auxiliary of 7452 Montgomery, 5036 St. Charles and most recent becoming a member of Post 6791 West Chicago.

Everyone that knew her knows her love for the game baseball and was a avid Cubs fan. She also got great joy from crafting.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Paris (St. Charles), foster son Robert (Rickie) Bleinster (Washingotn), foster daughter Jill Olinger (St. Charles), sister-in-law Barbara Rabb (Chicago), brother-in-law Leslie Paris (Aurora), many nieces nephews, grandchildren, and great grand children.

Ardath is preceded in death by her mother Annabel Hatlested, father Leo Cantrill, step-father Emil Scandroli, sister Carol Swenson, husband Alvin Paris, and her beloved dogs Moose and Molly.

Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 31 from 3–8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home 405 East Main Street, St. Charles IL, 60174 (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25). Private burial will take place at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In leiu of flowers please make donations to VFW National Home for Children Activity Fund.
