OBITUARY

John R. Anderson, age 87, of Geneva, died Monday at Delnor Community Hospital Geneva. He was born May 20, 1925 in Geneva.

Mr. Anderson was co-owner of Anderson Jewelers for 37 years in Geneva along with his brother Bob before he retired in 1985. He was very active in the community in the following organizations: Geneva Lions Club, Geneva Township, Geneva Zoning Board of Appeals and Geneva History Center. In addition to being honored as a Wood Award winner and parade marshal of the Geneva Swedish Days Parade, he was instrumental in bringing senior housing to Geneva.

He is survived by his three children, Dan (Jane) Anderson of Tempe, AZ; Sharon (Jim) Weitl of St. Charles and Tom (Cindy) Anderson of Geneva; also his grandchildren, Michael and Peter Weitl, John and Rachel Anderson, and Kelsey and Katie Anderson; three great grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Anderson of Geneva.

He was preceded in death by his wife Clara, brother Kenneth Anderson and a sister, Genevieve Lundgren, and his close friend, Bette Torpe.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday at United Methodist Church of Geneva 211 Hamilton Street, Geneva. Rev. Bill Obalil officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State Street (Rte 38) Geneva.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Geneva Beautification Committee, 22 South First Street, Geneva, Il 60134.
