OBITUARY

Charles "Chuck" H. West, 69, of Elgin, passed away July 4, 2012, at UIC Medical Center from complications following liver transplant surgery. He was born in Springfield, Illinois on November 24, 1942 to Melvin and Thelma West.

He was Kane County Coroner for 12 years and served eight years before that as a Deputy Coroner. He was also a proud South Elgin Fire Department firefighter/paramedic and active Kiwanis member. Chuck touched many in his role as educator: District U-46 teacher/counselor for over 20 years and graduate faculty member at National Louis University and the Illinois State Police Academy. He served as president of the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Management Team (supporting families of victims of tragedies).

Chuck dedicated his entire adult life to serving the community, his friends, and his family.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 Years, Lisa, nee McCarthy; and his cherished children, Eric and Tia (Ryan) Carroll and grandson, Nolan Carroll. He will be dearly missed by his sisters, Geraldine (Harold) French, Peggy Mesarosch, Shirley (Garland) Lacey, Betty (Bob) Hoyt, Donna (Roger) Cates and a brother Melvin (Verna) West. He was the "Best Uncle Ever" to 47 nieces and nephews and will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Gladys West and his brother-in-law, Bob Mesarosch

Visitation will take place Sunday, July 8th from 4 to 9:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles and Monday, July 9th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 St. Thomas More Drive, Elgin. Funeral mass following at 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Interment will be private.
