Warren Lloyd Swenson passed away peacefully at Delnor Hospital on December 1, 2010 from complications of a stroke. Warren was born in Rockford, Illinois on September 17, 1920. He was a St. Charles resident for over 80 years. Warren was a proud member of the Exchange Club of the Tri Cities and a member, emeritis, of the Salvation Army Board of Directors, having served as President for two years. His loves in life were his family, his service in the Navy as a Signalman during World War II, and his job. He was owner and operator of Swenson Heating and Air Conditioning where he installed furnaces and Air conditioning in the Tri-Cities for 50 years, working at this until he was 85 years old. He loved giving people “a good job for a fair price”. As a child, Warren was a Boy Scout and he tried to live up to their code all his life. He was friendly and a good man. Warren is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Karen (Olson), as well as his first wife, Ruth (Ostrom) Swenson; 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. His children include Caroline Miller of Minnesota; John Swenson of Colorado; Dr. Richard (Linda) Swenson of Wisconsin; Donald (Jo Lene Thoele) Swenson of Kansas and Amy (Sandra Tiano) Swenson of Toronto, Canada. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Schneider of Michigan and several nieces and nephews and many very good friends. Warren was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Swenson, his father, Lawrence Swenson, his sister, Lorraine Seifert, his son-in-law Bernard Miller and a great-grandson Nico Everett Swenson. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday at St. John Neumann Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles where he was a Chartered Member. Rev. Rich Rosinski officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery St. Charles. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles.
