Meagan Elaine Ahlstrom, a college student and her mother were on a road trip returning home from Nashville, TN when they were struck head-on by a drunk driver early Sunday morning on Route 47 outside of Morris, IL resulting in Meagan Elaine Ahlstrom’s tragic death. Meagan, 24, of St. Charles was pronounced dead at the scene by Grundy County Coroner John Callahan at 4:45 a.m. on June 14th. Meagan was born in Edmond, OK. She lived in her mother’s and grand parents hometown of Lafayette, LA for 2 years. She grew up in Nashville, TN. She was living in St. Charles, IL while attending college. Meagan was very committed to her family. She always challenged herself spiritually. She was a dreamer, learning languages to travel the world. Her charisma, zeal, humor, character, love for dogs, theater, reading, and singing are a few things that begin to describe Meagan’s dynamic personality. Her father, worship pastor at Christ Community Church in St. Charles, says “Meagan was such a beautiful, beautiful, girl inside and out…full of life and compassion. Her mother and I named her ‘Meagan Elaine’ because it means ‘great and mighty light’ and she lived up to her name. She lit up so many hearts with her life. This world will not be as bright without her.” Meagan leaves behind her parents, Leonard and Rebecca Ahlstrom her older brother, Aaron and younger sister Melody. Other surviving family members include maternal grandparents Caro and Shirleen Louviere of Lafayette, LA, paternal grandmother Alice Hood of Amarillo, TX, sister-in-law and niece Niki and Olive Ahlstrom, brother-in-law David Card, aunts; Zoe Robicheaux, Carmen Fredrick, Donna Napier, Debbie Cheeves, Bekki Coll, Delphina Major, first cousins Zane Robicheaux, Brynn Robicheaux, Danielle Fredrick, Miranda Fredrick, Garrette Fredrick, Vandala Hood and many others. There will be a Celebration service held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 19th at Christ Community Church, corner of Randall Road and Bolcum Road, St. Charles. A family burial service will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Grand Couteau, LA. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18th from 3-8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles. The family request that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the “Meagan Elaine Ahlstrom Memorial Fund”.
